The British rapper and online personality Yung Filly has been charged with rape allegations in Australia. His real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, and he is widely recognized for his involvement with the YouTube collective Beta Squad, as well as for hosting shows on BBC Three.
He was arrested in Brisbane on Tuesday and was extradited to Perth the next day for a court hearing. Barrientos, 29, was charged on Thursday, and his bail application has been approved. His representatives have been reached for comment.
The charges include four counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one count of obstructing a person’s normal breathing or circulation by applying pressure to their neck. It is alleged that he took a woman in her 20s back to his hotel room after performing at the nightclub Bar1 in Perth.
The incident is said to have occurred on September 28. In Perth Magistrates Court, he was represented by barrister Seamus Rafferty SC, who applied for bail on his behalf.
The 29-year-old, who was in Australia for a music tour, has also made appearances in the UK on Soccer Aid for ITV and The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer on Channel 4. Barrientos won a MOBO Award for best media personality in 2021.
