A representative from Song Dae Kwan’s agency Star Lineup Entertainment shared, “Song Dae Kwan recently mentioned feeling fatigued and was admitted to the hospital. He then passed away due to cardiac arrest.”
They further clarified, “There are rumors that he had pre-existing health conditions and underwent surgery, but that was not the cause of death. There are reports that he was transported to the emergency room after complaining of pain early in the morning, but that is also not true.”
Lee Ja Yeon, the president of the Korea Singers Association, stated, “No decisions have been made yet regarding the format or procedures for the late singer’s funeral. We plan to follow the wishes of the bereaved family.”
Song Dae Kwan debuted in 1967 with the song “Kindhearted Uncle” and rose to nationwide fame with his hit “A Sunny Day” in 1975. He became a beloved and popular singer, with subsequent hits such as “Four Beats,” “Popular Song,” and “One Ticket.” In the 1990s, he was regarded as one of the “Four Kings of Trot” alongside Tae Jin Ah, Hyun Chul, and Sul Woon Do.
We offer our deepest condolences to Song Dae Kwan’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
