She made her debut with Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi in 1996 which starred Akshay Kumar and Rekha. She played the role of Jane in the movie. Yes, we are talking about Barkha Madan. She competed at the Femina Miss India pageant in 1994 alongside winners Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai. She got the title of Miss Tourism India when she participated in the inaugural Miss Tourism International pageant.
Ram Gopal Varma cast her in Bhoot later. She played the ghost in the movie and it was a huge hit. Barkha shot to fame post her work in Bhoot. She became a household name and received a lot of love for her performance in the movie.
However, post that, her success story slowed down. Later, she id a few Punjabi films, but couldn’t establish herself there as well. She then started a production and distribution company named Golden Gate LLC. This was to promote talented independent filmmakers.
After movies, Barkha also tried television and did about 20 shows. But nothing worked well and she decided to quit the entertainment world. She took up the path of spirituality. In 2012, she decided to be a Buddhist nun. She followed the ideology of Buddhism and is also a follower of the Dalai Lama. She changed her name to Ven Gyalten Samten. She took her ordination vows from Sera Je Monastery on 4 November 2012.
