YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia has received some relief in cases related to India’s Got Latent controversy. He had approached Supreme Court to club the FIRs filed against him in various states including Maharashtra, Assam and Jaipur. Today, the hearing took place and the Supreme Court has granted him some relief. He has been provided interim protection from arrest in multiple FIRs lodged against him. But it is subject to the full cooperation that he will have to provide during the investigation.
As reported by news agency ANI, Supreme Court has directed that no further FIR should be registered against Ranveer Allahbadia on the basis of the episode that aired on India’s Got Latent. The YouTuber has been asked to deposit his passport with the police, thus barring him from leaving the country without the permission of the court. The court also directed that “He shall be at liberty to approach local police of Maharashtra and Assam for protection of life and liberty in case of any threat impeding him to join probe,” as reported by the news agency. Post the controversy, Ranveer Allahbadia claimed that he is receiving death threats through social media and his family is also being targeted. This will help him get protection of life and liberty with the help of local police.

As reported by Bar and Bench, Ranveer Allahbadia was also reprimanded by the judges for the comments made. Justice Kant reportedly said, “Such behaviour has to be condemned. Just because you are popular, you cannot take society for granted. Is there anyone on earth who would like this language? There is something very dirty in his mind which has been vomited. Why should we protect him.”
Lawyer Abhinav Chandrachud, the son of the previous Chief Justice, DY Chandrachud, represented Ranveer Allahbadia in court. As per reports, Ranveer has also been asked to restrain from conducting or releasing any more shows for sometime.
