Shahid Kapoor has impressed everyone with his terrific performance in Deva. The film has grabbed everyone’s attention. However, it has got mixed response from the audience. The actor has been at his best in the movie but overall the story could not hit the right chord it seems. The story is about a rebellious and honest police officer who investigates a high profile case. He finds out many lies and betrayals are a part of this journey making it more challenging for him. Shahid has always worked hard on every character and he always has something different to deliver.
His role in this movie is truly the highlight but overall, the film did not have much impact on the audience. The movie has Pooja Hegde opposite Shahid Kapoor. She too has been praised for her performance. People on social media have also called it her best performance. Pavail Gulati, Kubbra Sait and others are also a part of the movie.
Talking about the box office performance of the film, it had a very slow start on day 1. It just earned Rs 5.50 crore on the first day of its release. During the weekends, we usually get to see some growth and it did happen for Deva as well but not much. The movie earned Rs 1 crore more than the first day at the box office.
As per Pinkvilla, Deva earned Rs 6.50 crore on the second day. This takes the total to Rs 12 crore. A lot of things have affected the growth of the movie. Firstly, it is a remake. It is the official adaptation of Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews’ 2013 film Mumbai Police. Deva marks his Bollywood debut.
Secondly, it has got a tough competition from Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya’s Sky Force. The movie is doing a great job at the box office. It has been speculated that the lifetime business of Deva would be around Rs 35 crore in India.
