People who dare to dream big are few! Bollywood is all about dreaming big. Everyone wants to achieve the success that is unshakable but not all are able to achieve the same. Here’s a story of an actress who does not belong to the film industry and has no Godfather, but she managed to achieve her dreams of becoming an actress with her sheer talent and dedication. She did not give up despite facing rejection and some harsh comments about her looks.

Meet Dangal star Sanya Malhotra
The actress is Sanya Malhotra. She rose to fame by playing Babita Kumari Phogat in Aamir Khan‘s movie Dangal. Till today, the film is the highest grossing film of India. But before venturing into films, Sanya Malhotra was a dancer and yoga teacher. Back then she used to earn Rs 15,000 a month. Sanya travelled to Mumbai for the dance reality show Dance India Dance. She made it to top 100 but her selection did not go through. She faced rejection but that did not hamper her determination. The diva fell in love with the city and shifted her base to Mumbai from Delhi. She then started giving auditions for movies.
In one of the chat shows, Sanya revealed that a casting director asked her to get her jaw reconstruction surgery done. In a chat with Uorfi Javed, she recalled the incident and shared that she was utterly shocked. She also revealed that her mother took her to three pandits as she did not want Sanya to pursue acting. The actress was quoted saying, “I was like, ‘What?’, they don’t say anything now. But I know I’m perfect! I’m so confident, I can’t even tell you. But, of course, it fluctuates. Especially during periods, it goes for a toss. I have endometriosis as well, there’s a cyst in my ovaries. But I was so confident, when I came to Mumbai, I used to go for auditions without hair and makeup. I was sure I’d be selected for my acting alone.”
About the pandit visits, Sanya said, “They told my mother that I will study economics and get into a bank. I said, ‘That’s not possible.”
It was casting director Mukesh Chhabra who noticed Sanya and offered her the role of Babita Kumari in Dangal. Since then there has been no stopping for Sanya. Since then she has appeared in films like Badhaai Ho, Ludo, Meenakshi Sundareshwar and more. She was also a part of Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster hit Jawan.
