The debate surrounding star kids and nepotism in the showbiz industry has been there for quite some time. The word ‘nepotism’ has become a hot topic of discussion, with people often slamming the privileges that star kids enjoy. Many feel that actors and filmmakers promote their own family members and take away opportunities from those who are more deserving and belong to non-film backgrounds. But are all star kids popular? No.

There are many stars like Zayed Khan, Fardeen Khan, Sanjay Kapoor and others who could not make a mark in the industry despite being from the filmy background. There is one star who made his debut with the help of his father who is a popular director. However, his debut film did not work and he was being criticised.

People trolled him and mocked his acting skills. Critics questioned his talent and this broke him down as he was just 18 years old. Post that he lost interest in acting and started pursuing a master’s degree abroad. He went to the USA to pursue a master’s degree in philosophy. We are talking about Fahadh Faasil. He completed his studies abroad and returned back to India and tried acting again.

He has worked in the Malayalam film industry and made his debut in 2002 with the Malayalam film Kaiyethum Doorath. His father, Fazil helped him but the film failed badly at the box office. After he completed his studies in USA, he came across a DVD of an Irrfan Khan film and he was impressed. This brought back his interest in acting.

He decided to work on his skills and left his career mid way there. He returned to acting after seven years and did a film in 2009 titled Kerala Cafe. However, he shot to fame in 2011 with Chappa Kurishu and 22 Female Kottayam. His performances in these films got all the love and everyone started recognising his talent.

Later, he went on to show his talent through films like Joji, Trance, Aavesham, Bangalore Days, Diamond Necklace, Annayum Rasoolum, North 24 Kaatham, Malik and more. His performance in Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rise left everyone surprised. He did an amazing job in the film and today is one of the most versatile actors.
