Former actress Mamta Kulkarni continues to make headlines. Her recent visit to Maha Kumbh 2025 drew massive attention. She renounced worldly pleasures and took ‘sanyas’. She also performed ‘pind daan’. The actress then got appointed as the Mahamandaleshwar of Kinnar Akhara. However, a few days later, Mamta got expelled from this position. Reportedly, internal conflicts and objection by religious leaders led to her expulsion. Now, the actress has commented on rumours suggesting that she paid Rs 10 crore to become the Mahamandaleshwar. Mamta Kulkarni appeared on Rajat Sharma’s Aap Ki Adalat and spoke about her journey to spirituality. She even clarified on the rumours suggesting that she paid Rs 10 crore to get the position in Kinnar Akhara. The actress mentioned that she does not have any money and her bank accounts are sealed. Thus, there is no way she could pay Rs 10 crore. She said, “Forget Rs 10 crore; I do not have even Rs 1 crore with me. My bank accounts are sealed. I had to borrow Rs 2 lakh from somebody to offer as ‘dakshina’ to my guru when I was made Mahamandaleshwar.” The actress further shared that she is going through a tough time financially. Mamta Kulkarni added that three of her apartments are in bad shape due to termites. During the conversation, Mamta Kulkarni added that she did ’23 years of tapasya’. She was also asked whether she is fit to receive the title of Mahamandaleshwar. The actress replied, “One should not flaunt their knowledge because that leads to arrogance” and recited a mantra from Rigveda. For the unaverse, it was on January 31 that a press release was issued by Rishi Ajay Das, the founder of the Kinnar Akhara, stating that Mamta Kulkarni is expelled from her position. The press release stated that the decision of relieving the actress from her post was made in the ‘interest of the country, Sanatan Dharma, and society’. Even Laxmi Narayan Tripathi was removed from her position of Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhara. She was the one who appointed Mamta Kulkarni as the Mahamandaleshwar of Kinnar Akhara.
