A new Friday is round the corner and with it a new box office clash in Bollywood. This time it is star kids and big screen debutants Junaid Khan, Khushi Kapoor vs music director-singer-actor Himesh Reshammiya. Loveyapa and Badass Ravi Kumar are releasing in theatres on February 7, 2025 and we spoke to trade experts to get a hint on the box office collections of the films during the opening day and opening weekend, figures that are crucial to judge a film’s success.
Trade expert and film critic Rohit Jaiswal is of the opinion that Junaid Khan’s Loveyapa will reach a figure between Rs 1 to 2 crore on the opening day, whereas, Badass Ravi Kumar can eye a number close to Rs 4 crore. He also opined that the weekend collection for both the films will largely depend on the word of mouth.
Loveyapa stars Aamir Khan’s elder son Junaid Khan, who made his acting debut on OTT platform Netflix with Maharaj in 2024. The film also has Khushi Kapoor playing the female lead. She too made her acting debut with The Archies on Netflix last year. Both the star kids have had constant attention on them ever since the film’s promotions began.
Despite the presence of star kids and the fact that a heavyweight like Aamir has been promoting it, trade expert and film critic Sumit Kadel is sure that Badass Ravi Kumar will race way ahead of Loveyapa, “Badass Ravi Kumar will surprise at the box office big time. If we talk about the opening day box office prediction, it can be anywhere between Rs 5 to 7 crore nett, which will be a blockbuster opening for a Himesh Reshammiya starrer.” Further sharing his insights on Loveyapa, Sumit shared, “The buzz is low and the film can make somewhere between Rs 70 lakh to 1 crore. There is no competition between the two films whatsoever. Badass Ravi Kumar will crush Loveyapa.”
Loveyapa is directed by Advait Chandan of Secret Superstar, Laal Singh Chaddha fame, while BARK is helmed by Keith Gomes, who has worked on shorts like Shameless and Child’s Play and as on the screenplay of Salman Khan’s Kick.
Both the films belong to two different genres and therefore at least the audience will not have a tough time deciding which one to watch. However, there is Chhaava releasing just a week after, and it may be possible for the audience to sit out of these ones and wait for Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna’s period drama.
