Police say it’s a “ reasonable supposition ” that he failed when his trendsetter had its “ last event ”. Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza, who spoke to a pathologist in the case before on Friday, told a press conference, “ Both individualities tested negative for carbon monoxide. An original interrogation was conducted of Mr Hackman’s trendsetter. This revealed that his last event was recorded February 17 2025, I was advised that a further thorough disquisition will be completed. ”
He also said, “ original findings noted no external trauma to either existent. The manner and cause of death has not been determined. The sanctioned results of the necropsy and toxicology reports are pending. ” Gene Hackman’s body was set up in a slush room, and his woman was set up next to a space heater in a restroom, investigators said in the leave.
The Sheriff had preliminarily said there were several disagreeing stories about which doors were locked at the house – he said several were uncorked and a hinder door was open, which allowed two tykes that survived to go by and out. He also said he allowed the frontal door was closed but uncorked.
Two other tykes were set up alive at the property, one outside and one outside. The alarm had been raised by a conservation person doing pest control at the property, who was concerned because he had n’t seen the couple, police said. New Mexico Gas Company tested gas lines in and around the home after the bodies were discovered, according to a hunt leave, and no signs of problems were set up. Officers are still trying to erect together the couple’s last known contact with other people, but “ that’s one of our challenges because of their sequestration, ” the Sheriff said.
A hunt was carried out after the bodies were discovered, and several particulars were “ secured from the hearthstone for evidentiary purposes ”. These included two green mobile phones, two bottles of drug, medical records and a 2025 yearly diary. Work is now being done to “ sift through cell phones ” and to look through a timetable set up near the couple’s bodies. Contact will also be made with workers, security staff and family members.
The Sheriff said there’s nothing which suggests the couple fell, adding “ I do n’t suppose, you know, there was any suggestion that, again, there was no trauma or injured themselves, or head injury or brain injury. ” The moment when a trendsetter stops working could mark the point when a person dies but not always, according to Dr Philip Keen, the retired principal medical monitor in Maricopa County, Arizona.
He said latterly “ If your heart needed a trendsetter, there would clearly be an interruption at that point – and it might be the hallmark of when the death passed. But it’s not inescapably because some people get a trendsetter to compound effects, not inescapably replace effects. ” He also felt it would be doubtful for a person who tests negative for carbon monoxide originally to latterly be set up to have been poisoned by it.
Gene, who was extensively admired as one of the topmost actors of his generation, was a five- time Oscar designee who won Stylish Actor in a Leading part for The French Connection in 1972 and Stylish Actor in a Supporting part for Unforgiven two decades latterly. His daughters Elizabeth and Leslie, and his granddaughter Annie, said they will miss the actor “ plaintively ” and are “ devastated by the loss ”.
