Apart from Kiara Advani, Anjali played the second leading lady in Ram Charan’s Game Changer. The film turned out to be one of the biggest flops in Indian cinema.
Now, Anjali has reacted to the box office failure of Game Changer. When the actress was promoting the Telugu release of her Tamil film Madha Gaja Raja in Hyderabad, she shared that the failure of the Ram Charan-starrer hurt her badly. Anjali said, “As an actor, I can only take responsibility for how well I played my character. To hope a movie works at the box office is something we strive for with promotions. But beyond that, I’ll need more time to speak about Game Changer than we have. Everyone knows why I’m saying that.” She indirectly addressed how the film was leaked on several piracy websites just days after its release.
“There are some films you believe in personally and invest in. I gave my 200% to Game Changer. I feel happy that no audience member who spoke to me after watching it said the film was bad; everyone called it a good film. They appreciated my performance, which is more than enough for me. Sometimes, we get hurt; it hurts so badly. So, that’s all it is”, Anjali further added.
Made in the reported budget of Rs 400 crore, Game Changer earned just Rs 130 crore net in India and grossed Rs 186 crore worldwide, as per the box office tracking portal Sacnilk. The film is the second successive flop of Shankar, whose last film Indian 2 with Kamal Haasan was also rejected by the audiences in 2024.
