Put on your glasses (that you had to tape back together in the middle) and hike up your pants with suspenders, because it’s time for Nerd Prom. Amber Ruffin hosts this year’s annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner. As the former host of The Amber Ruffin Show and current host of Have I Got News for You, Ruffin is no stranger to talking about politics, though this is probably the biggest stage for any political comedian. It’s the first WHCD of the new Trump era, and the name on ev-ry-bo-dy’s lips is gonna be Elon.
“When I began to think about what entertainer would be a perfect fit for the dinner this year, Amber was immediately at the top of my list,” Politico’s Eugene Daniels, president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, said on February 4. “She has the ability to walk the line between blistering commentary and humor all while provoking her audience to think about the important issues of the day. I’m thrilled and honored she said yes.” The WHCD will be held on April 26, 2025, barring any unforeseen executive orders.
