A$AP Rocky has been acquitted of two counts of felony assault with a semi-automatic firearm. On Tuesday, a Los Angeles jury found rapper (real name Rakim Mayers) not guilty of firing a gun at former A$AP Mob member A$AP Relli (real name Terell Ephron) in a Hollywood shooting in 2021. According to the Associated Press, the jurors reached this verdict after only about three hours of deliberation. Rocky had pleaded not guilty to the charges, maintaining that he actually fired blanks from a prop weapon in the incident. During the eventful trial, which began on January 24, Rihanna arrived in court alongside the two young sons she shares with Rocky to support him during closing arguments.

According to the district attorney’s office, Rocky faced a maximum prison sentence of 24 years and four months if convicted. He also turned down a plea deal that would have meant six months in jail and three years’ probation, his attorney previously confirmed to ABC News. Now that he’s been cleared of these charges, though, there’s no need to worry about Rocky having to somehow try to co-chair this year’s Met Gala from behind bars.
